Way to go at Ironman Arizona!!
BTC members Kelly Molaski and Luis Rojas just competed at Ironman in Tempe, AZ, this past weekend!
Kelly "Bellingham Bomber" Molaski smashed her age group, setting a new course record for her division. Ironman.com had this to say about Kelly in the Women's 45-49 age group:
Taking credit for predicting a Kelly Molaski victory is like a rooster taking credit for
predicting sunrise. Gee whiz, another win. Golly gee, another course record.
And, oh yeah, at 49 she's at the top of the age group, and uh, did we mention?
Her time would have won 40-44 and come within a minute of breaking that
record, too. We have it on good authority that there's a bill in Congress to stop
her from turning fifty next year.
And, in his first Ironman, Luis Rojas did the impossible: smiled through the entire event. We have yet to find a picture with less than a grin from ear to ear. Yet to be interviewed it is hard to deduct what Luis enjoyed more; the gusting headwind or the blinding sun. You've done us proud!
Great Job, now recover and get back to training.

Posted November 20th: New Club Officers Holiday Potluck Damian Hill at the 70.3 World Championships: The BTC had a wonderful Holiday Potluck on November 15th at Cathy Renaud's house. The weather was the evenings biggest challenge as power was out in a number of neighborhoods due to high winds, rain and falling trees/limbs. But all who were able to make it had a great evening thanks to Cathys hospitality.
Officer election results were announced with Alina Brown, President; Damian Hill, Vice President/Secretary and Judy Pratt, Treasurer.

The group was happy to include Damians parents (Pete & BJ) who were traveling back to Alaska from Clearwater, Florida where Damian competed in the 70.3 (Half Ironman) World Championships on November 11th. For those of you who havent heard, Damian had an awesome race finishing 27th overall out of a field of 1361 competitors with a time of 4:06:27! Damians finish earned him 3rd place in the M18-24 division and a trip to the podium (see photo below). His splits were: 1.2 mile swim: 29:51, T1: 2:34, 56 mile bike: 2:12:08 (averaging 25.4 mph!), T2: 1:45, 13.1 mile run: 1:20:10 (the 19th fastest of the day and averaging 6:08 minute miles!) AWESOME!
Congratulations to Damian Hill

Posted November 5th: Team Hoyt visited Bellingham on November 3 to speak at a St. Joseph Hospital function held at Semiahmoo Resort. The group was treated to a one hour reception with Dick and Rick Hoyt prior to their keynote address over dinner.
This dynamic father and son duo has competed in over 900 sporting events together to include 25 Boston Marathons, over 200 triathlons (6 Ironman) and a 3735 mile bike/run across America! Among their best finishes are a 2:40:47 marathon and a 13:43:37 Ironman. (On their Ironmans, imagine trying to tow a raft that weighs over 200 pounds for 2.4 miles, cycling 112 miles with a 65 pound bike and a 110 pound passenger and then pushing a race wheelchair for 26.2 miles. WOW!) Team Hoyt's motto is "YES YOU CAN".

Posted October 22nd: Next Club Meeting and Elections - November 15
It's Election Time!
We will be holding BTC elections at our next official meeting, which is on November 15. Cathy Renaud has generously offered to host the holiday potluck at her house. Here are the guidelines for the election process:
We will elect three positions:
President: runs the club meetings; helps plan events; helps obtain sponsorship; acts as liaison to USAT
Vice President/Secretary: runs meetings in President's absence; maintains membership list/sends out membership cards; takes minutes at meetings
Treasurer: accounts for the money
Only members may run for office. If you're not currently a member, send in your money and you can run!
Any interested member should post to our listserve their name, which position they are running for, and a brief statement about why they are running.
Deadline for submission of posting your nomination is October 31.
On November 1 (or thereabouts), we will post a ballot to the listserve.
ONLY MEMBERS CAN VOTE! If you're not currently a member, send in your money and you can vote!
You have two ways to vote:
1. You can print out your ballot and bring it to the meeting on November 15, or
2. You can e-mail it back if you cannot make the meeting.
We will count the ballots at the meeting. Most votes wins!
